Working with an ‘Appropriate Body’ to run an NQT induction period in British Schools Overseas (BSOs)

Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) working overseas have not previously been able to undertake their teacher induction overseas, but now, under changes in the law in September 2012 schools that:

  • have successfully undergone a BSO inspection within the last three academic years (including the current year) and
  • are members of BSME (or one of the other three overseas schools organisations approved for this purpose)

……. may recruit NQTs and assist them to fully satisfy induction year requirements.

Induction in a BSME schools has to be in conjunction (as it would in England or Wales) with an “Appropriate Body” (AB).

The Buckinghamshire Learning Trust (BLT) is BSME’s preferred partner to act as an “Appropriate Body” for NQT induction to BSME Schools. BSME has negotiated preferential rates with The Buckinghamshire Learning Trust for BSME Members.

BLT can also provide the opportunity for some experienced staff to undergo an abbreviated induction period lasting as little as one school term.
