When the BSME CPD Programme began in earnest, in 2011, we had only half a dozen schools officially listed as ‘host schools’. To date, thirty-five schools have already hosted for us and we now have forty-seven schools (approximately 65% of the total membership!) registered as willing hosts. That is a fantastic statistic and a real testament to the credibility of the the rapidly growing CPD Programme.

Such keen support is not only much appreciated, it is also essential to the success of the programme. Without it, the BSME CPD Programme simply could not run in the manner in which it does currently. Our sincere thanks go to all our host schools across the region.

How should host schools book their free places?

To claim host school free places, you will need to fill in the Host School Free Place form. Please click on the link below to download the form.

Booking Form - Host School Free Place

Please email this form to Sam via cpdassistant@bsme.org.uk before the course booking deadline. Please DO NOT register your free places online - all delegates registered online will be charged. Should host schools wish to book any additional (chargeable) places, they should do so on-line, in the ‘Programmes and Courses’ Section of the CPD area.

Kind Regards,

BSME CPD Coordinator

Comments/Description

The Gulf English School is a well-established international school for the children of the large expatriate community and Kuwaiti children. The school is housed in new, purpose built premises in Salmiya. The school’s 2400 pupils follow a modified National Curriculum of England and Wales from the Foundation Stage through to university entrance. Arabic and Islamic studies are also taught throughout. Parents of primary years children receive regular communication on the curriculum and their child's progress. Children are regularly assessed and new targets set. Students take targets home and parents are encouraged to help their children achieve these. All students receive a formal written report at the end of terms One and Three. A distinctive feature of the Secondary school is an accelerated programme for gifted and talented children leading to A/S and A levels in Year 11. Students can follow a one year or two year A/S and A level programme.

Daily after school activities include ice-skating, karate, swimming and many other sports, instrumental lessons with various ensembles and choirs, chess and fine arts. Sports teams take part in inter-schools competitions and students are encouraged to take part in as many extracurricular activities as possible. Students elect their representatives on to a Student Council which organizes social and other activities at the school. The school is working towards the prestigious 'International Schools Award' in conjunction with the British Council and students are encouraged to develop their life skills by taking part in the International Award Scheme. The vast majority of teachers are recruited in the United Kingdom. Highly qualified teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies are recruited locally. In an atmosphere of high expectations, teachers employ a wide range of teaching strategies and resources. (The school is particularly well resourced with the latest educational technology as well as more traditional materials.)
