When the BSME CPD Programme began in earnest, in 2011, we had only half a dozen schools officially listed as ‘host schools’. To date, thirty-five schools have already hosted for us and we now have forty-seven schools (approximately 65% of the total membership!) registered as willing hosts. That is a fantastic statistic and a real testament to the credibility of the the rapidly growing CPD Programme.

Such keen support is not only much appreciated, it is also essential to the success of the programme. Without it, the BSME CPD Programme simply could not run in the manner in which it does currently. Our sincere thanks go to all our host schools across the region.

How should host schools book their free places?

To claim host school free places, you will need to fill in the Host School Free Place form. Please click on the link below to download the form.

Booking Form - Host School Free Place

Please email this form to Sam via cpdassistant@bsme.org.uk before the course booking deadline. Please DO NOT register your free places online - all delegates registered online will be charged. Should host schools wish to book any additional (chargeable) places, they should do so on-line, in the ‘Programmes and Courses’ Section of the CPD area.

Kind Regards,

BSME CPD Coordinator

Comments/Description

Founded in 2004, Safa School follows the National Curriculum for England. The school has grown in recent years to seven form entry with 24 children in each class. Although larger than most Primary schools, Safa has retained a small school feel with a family atmosphere where every child is treated as a individual.

English speaking children between the ages of three and eleven of all nationalities are welcomed, thus creating a wonderful multi-national environment, where children learn to respect, appreciate and enjoy each other’s cultures.

In November 2014, Safa School achieved British Schools Overseas status. The Inspection report is listed on the Department for Education website in the UK, showing that the school has met or exceeded the highest standards of UK education in an overseas setting.

All class teachers are UK qualified, highly experienced and attend regular in-service training to ensure that they keep up-to-date with curriculum changes from the UK. Regular specialist lessons in Music, Computing, Arabic, Islamic, Physical Education, Swimming and French are offered as part of the curriculum. Specialist teaching for Art has recently been introduced and older children will start lessons in Spanish from September 2015. The two new computer suites and the Music rooms are exceptionally well equipped. Support is available for children who require long or short-term intervention to ensure that they attain the expected level of achievement. The school has a gifted and talented programme which celebrates the highest achievements in all curricular areas. In addition to this, the school offers a very comprehensive after-school activity programme for years one to six, including a Prep Club where children complete their homework.

The school follows the EYFS curriculum from England for its Foundation stage learners and the accompanying assessments are completed over a two year period in an electronic format.

For children from Year one to Year 6, regular assessments include NFER reading, spelling and Mathematics with SATs for Years 2 and 6 at the end of the academic year. Data is analysed and next steps for individual children are planned.

The school has a brand new Astroturf pitch, a 25 metre swimming pool, a learner pool, dance studio and an auditorium with tiered seating.

The school participates in all inter-school leagues for sport within Dubai with teams for swimming, football, netball, cricket, basketball and from September 2015 for rugby.

An enthusiastic and supportive group of parents organise a variety of family orientated events throughout the year such as cake sales, fundraising, National Day, International Day, sponsored events, etc. New parents are encouraged to join this group.
