The British International School Al Khobar (BISAK) is an educational community that provides diverse and challenging learning experiences. BISAK is a Preschool to Year 13 School that follows the English National Curriculum and delivers IGCSE, GCSE and A-level examinations at the end of KS4 and KS5. The school endeavours to motivate pupils to develop the belief that they can succeed. The school aims, through its international environment, to inspire everyone to be positive global citizens by reflecting upon equality, community service and peace. All are welcomed and valued as unique individuals. BISAK was established in 1977 to provide British style education to international pupils living in and around Al Khobar. The purpose-built school, which includes a separate primary and secondary library, a sports hall, performing hall, specialist art, DT, and music rooms as well as three fully equipped Science laboratories and two Information Technology labs, is situated in a quiet residential area of Al Khobar. Recognised by the Department for Education (DfE) and the Saudi Ministry of Education, BISAK is also a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME). The school provides a wide range of specialist subjects throughout the EYFS to A Level range. Students are supported and encouraged by qualified classroom teachers, specialist subject teachers, learning assistants, a nurse, librarians and administrators. The school welcomes children of all nationalities. Each potential student is assessed to meet certain adequate standards of English language for appropriate class placement. The school’s pupil centered approach helps ensure that each young person is suitably supported in all that they do in and out of the classroom. A wide range of extra curricular activities is offered after school. Additionally the school is, within limits, a centre for community cultural activities. BISAK follows a northern hemisphere academic year (British overseas pattern) starting in early September and finishing at the end of June/early July. |
