Comments/Description

The Sultan’s School, established in 1977 by His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, is a selective, co-educational, day school of approximately 1300 students. The vast majority of students are Omani nationals with a small minority of students from other nationalities.

The school offers a superior education that follows the National Curriculum for England with the addition of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies to meet Government Requirements. Arabic is also taught as a subject to Expatriate students. In the final four years (10-13) of school IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma programmes are offered to all students allowing them access to the world’s leading universities.

The school produces consistent, exceptional results at both IGCSE and IB Diploma level with 100% of students proceeding to higher education, with the UK, USA and Australia as the favoured destinations. The courses of study are continuous throughout the fifteen years of schooling.

A three term, 36-week, year runs from the end of August until June with a break at the end of each term. The facilities are first rate with a large 500,000 square metre campus. There are three distinct sections to the school each with its own accommodation, resources and teaching specialists. All academic staff have qualified teacher status and are either native English-speaking expatriates from the UK, Australia, Canada, USA etc., Omani nationals or native Arabic-speaking expatriates, mainly from Jordan, Lebanon and, Syria. The school strives to develop those habits and attitudes necessary for success in an increasingly interdependent world whilst increasing student’s awareness and appreciation for the rich and varied traditions of Oman and how these relate to a life in a dynamic, forward-looking and creative society.
